(CM--5b)A row of shops at Chinatown of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Chinatown is very small in Chiang Mai. It is near the fresh and flower market by the Ping River. It has a lots of good restaurants here and served real Chinese food. Chiang Mai’s Chinatown is the Worarot market and commercial district. It is populated with gold shops and various markets selling anything from fabric to kitchen utensils. Plenty of great places to eat all types of food here. Statistics vary enormously but it’s a safe guess that between 20 and 30 percent of the population of Thailand is in fact of ethnic Chinese origin. Indeed Chinese trading communities certainly existed in Mon ports and entrepots in the region before the Thais even migrated to Thailand. Chinatown conjures up a more vibrant, exotic quarter of the city, with interesting food and possibly more street life.
